OTEGO — Curt Douglas DeVost, 55, of Otego, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

He was born on March 4, 1958, in Sidney, the son of the late Ralph G. and Anita (Lord) DeVost. On March 19, 1994, Curt married Joan Reinshagen in Davenport Center.

Curt was employed by the Arc Otsego for several years until he left due to illness. He also drove Oneonta Public Transit buses part-time.

He was an avid NASCAR fan who loved rooting for his favorite driver, No. 88, Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also was a huge fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees.

Curt was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. He will be greatly missed.

Curt is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Joan DeVost; his daughters, Kelly Sue DeVost and her fiancé, Doug Whitehead, Cynthia Doroski and her partner, Herb and Barbara Snyder and her partner, Jamie; his son, Daniel DeVost of Florida; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Cliff DeVost and his wife, Cindy of California, Bruce DeVost and his wife, Lynette of Unadilla, Keith DeVost and his partner, Paula of Unadilla, Dana DeVost and his wife, Franca of California and Scott DeVost and his wife, Elaine of Sidney; his sisters, Christina DeVost of Vestal, Denise DeVost of Unadilla and Karen Quanstrom and her husband, Bill of Pennsylvania.

In keeping with Curt’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, April 26, in the Otego Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street, Otego.

In lieu of flowers, Curt’s family asks that donations please be made in his memory to the Otego Emergency Squad, 5 River St., Otego, NY 13825 or to the American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502.
