ONEONTA — Helena E. Doheny, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at home in Florida.
She was born on June 26, 1935, in Rockaway, the daughter of Jack and Anna (Bresida) Rasmussen.
She graduated from Albany Business College.
Helena married William Doheny on March 19, 1977, at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Oneonta.
She was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and an active member of Doll Artisan Guild.
Helena touched the lives of so many people across many generations. She was an inspiration and mentor to many. Her acts of kindness over her lifetime are immeasurable. She was known to so many as “Mom” and treated all as her own children. Simply put she was an AMAZING woman and will be dearly missed. She had a wonderful sense of humor and infectious smile and personality.
She is survived by her husband, William Doheny; children, Athena Manley, Michael and wife, Jill
Henrikson, Michelle Leverenz and partner Don White, and stepson, William Doheny Jr.; grandchildren, Jenny Ferguson, Kyra Manley, Kyle Manley, Nicole Henrikson, Casie Henrikson; great-grandchildren, Brooke Ferguson, Megan Ferguson, Austin Smith; brothers, Walter Rasmussen, William and wife, Nancy Rasmussen; a sister, Eleanor and husband, John Arnold; and many nieces and nephews
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2013, at Milford Center Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Stephen Fournier, pastor, officiating.
