FRANKLIN — Vernon L. Taylor, 93, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Hampshire House in Oneonta.
Vern was born on Oct. 27, 1919, in Franklin, son of the late Archie and Mable (Bailey) Taylor. He married Lila L. Wilbur on Sept. 6, 1942. She predeceased him on Sept. 30, 2007.
He was a member of the Community Bible Church in Franklin, Lazy Hitch-A-Long Camping Club of Sidney, Franklin Historical Society, Franklin Senior Citizens and a former member of the Franklin Grange.
Vern was a farmer and later a shop steward for more than 35 years with the EC Bendix Company in Sidney. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to go camping with Lila and their children and vacationed every year in Florida.
Vern is survived by his children, Lucille Ann Field and her husband, Burnham of Woodbury, Conn., Larry Taylor and his wife, Betty of Milton, Fla., and Ken Taylor of Franklin.
He is also survived by two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Marie Sherman of Masonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, 425 Main St., Franklin. The family will be in attendance.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Community Bible Church, Center Street, Franklin with the Rev. Walter Schlundt, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin.
