EAST SPRINGFIELD — Olah A. Walton, 90, passed away Aug. 17, 2013, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
She was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Phoenix, the daughter of Howard and Fannie (Rathbun) Prior.
She married Edwin F. Walton on July 22, 1944, in New Bern, S.C., while they were both in the U.S.M.C. Olah was a PFC in the United States Marine Corps during World War II at Cherry Point, N.C.
Olah was a cancer survivor, Gold Star Mother, belonged to the Woman Marine Association, Telecom Pioneers, and the Cooperstown Native Daughters.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara LaDuke, Cooperstown; son, Robert S. Walton, Webster; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Roger, also in the U.S.M.C., who died in Vietnam in 1967.
The Patriot Guard, her son, Robert is a member of and his daughter, Rebecca will ride their bikes to escort his mom to the Springfield Center Cemetery. The U.S.M.C. Honor Guard will conduct a military funeral and committal service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Burial will follow.
