ANDES — Francesco “Frank” Bassi, 60, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
He was born June 24, 1953, in Brooklyn, the son of Dominick and Giovanna (Santoro) Bassi, receiving his formal education at Rockland County Community College in the BOCES Nursing Program.
A licensed practical nurse, Frank worked at Northern Westchester Hospital, until his health declined.
Formerly of Nanuet, he was a five-year Andes resident, a district representative in AA, and an AIDS activist.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Linda (Sammarco) Bassi; a son, Michael Bassi, Andes; his mother, Giovanna Bassi, Sloatsburg; three sisters, Bernadette Whitehurst, Idaho, Cathy Bassi, California, Marie Johnson, Sloatsburg; a brother, John Bassi, Nyack; nieces and nephews; and his pet Beagle, “Spike.”
Memorial services: 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Delhi, with the Rev. Nancy Truscott, Deacon, presiding.
