Frank N. (Stub) Bryant
PORTLANDVILLE — Frank N. (Stub) Bryant, 73, passed away August 23, 2013, at his home.
Stub was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Oneonta, the son of Frank E. and Mildred (Bemis) Bryant, but was raised by his grandparents, John N. and Elnora (Mead) Bryant, at West Laurens, whereat he resided until moving to Portlandville in 2008. He married Shirley Matteson on Sept. 2, 1961, at Morris.
Stub was a construction worker and member of Laborer’s Local No. 643.
He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter and continued to hunt, with determination and inventiveness and help from family and friends, for many years after suffering a severe stroke in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Larry (Mike) Chickerell, of West Laurens, granddaughters Tara (Barrett) McInnis of Celebration, FL and Traci Chickerell of Clifton Park, NY, and sister Florence “Flip” (Don) Gildner of Statesville, N.C.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and spouses, Darwin Card, Tom (Barb) Matteson, Doug (Jenny) Matteson, sister-in-law Sally Matteson, mother-in-law Helen Carley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Sally Card.
In accordance with Stub’s wishes, there will be no services.
