NORWICH — Betty L. Hamilton, 87, formerly of Sidney, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Chenango Valley Assisted Living in Norwich.

She was born March 22, 1926, daughter of the late Fred and Maude (Mattice) Atkinson in Norwich.

Betty married Paul G. Hamilton on March 17, 1946, in Norwich. He predeceased her on Oct. 1, 1975.

For several years Betty ran her cake business locally from her home. When she lived in Florida she was employed by the Venice High School in food service.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Pat Hamilton, Sidney, Kenneth and Linda Hamilton, Little River, S.C., Gary and Penny Hamilton, Sidney, Robert and Janet Hamilton, Fort Mill, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharron and Art Sandberg, Norwich and Barbara Hardie, Endicott; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was also predeceased by seven brothers, Harold Mattice, Leroy, Frederick, Kenneth, Donald, Otto and Robert Atkinson; and one sister, Dorothy Brush.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Gary Bonebrake, pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church in Oneonta officiating.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815 or to the Patient Care Fund at the Chenango Valley Assisted Living, 24 Canasawacta St., Norwich, NY 13815.
