GUILFORD — Mr. Delos Richard Alpaugh Jr., 90, of Guilford, passed away on April 28, 2013.
Richard was born in Amsterdam on Aug. 18, 1922, the son of Delos and Erma (Diamond) Alpaugh Sr. He was a graduate of Cherry Valley School, class of 1939.
During World War II he served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He worked and retired from the construction field, as a crane operator.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Alpaugh) and Gary Barber of Williamson; sister, Shirlee (Alpaugh) and Leroy Kretser of Nelliston; grandchildren, Aaron and Linda Barber, Kelly Barber, Brett and Deanna Alpaugh, Natalie Alpaugh, Nicole Sherman; great-grandchildren, Nina Barber, Max Barber, Gus LaDelfa, John LaDelfa, Alyssa Alpaugh; two nephews, Scott Larkin and Jeffrey Mykel; stepsons, Marty and Chris Cornish; and special friends, Charley and Mona Ingham and family of Guilford.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard (Ike) Alpaugh.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday the 2 of May, with calling hours from 11 a.m. Until service time at the Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Lyman Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Roseboom Cemetery, Roseboom.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Alpaugh’s memory may be made to the Chenango County SPCA.
