E. Jeannette Cline Brown

HOBART — E. Jeannette Cline Brown, 96, of Hobart, died at home on May 15, 2013. She was born on Aug. 22, 1916, in Stamford, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Shrader) Scott.

She was a graduate of Stamford Seminary and earned an RN from Kingston Hospital, where she was valedictorian of her nursing class.

She married Watson J. Cline on April 17, 1938, who predeceased her. She married Dr. F.D. Brown on Oct. 18, 1986.

Her nursing career included employment at Albany Medical Center, Bathgate Hospital in Stamford, Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, N.J. and as office nurse for Dr. Brown in Hobart.

She was a member of the Hobart United Methodist Church, Stamford-Hobart Senior Citizens Club and a past member of the Hobart Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Village of Hobart Planning Board.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Ralph) Beisler of Hobart, son, M. Andrew (Carol) Cline of South Windsor, Conn., daughter, Ruth Strasser of Fairborn, Ohio and stepdaughter, Bonnie Brown Navarro of Ithaca; as well as eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Dorothy Bruce, her husbands, Watson Cline and F.D. Brown and son-in-law, Richard O. Halterman Jr.

Calling hours will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the Hobart United Methodist Church with the funeral service at 1 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hobart United Methodist Church, the Hobart Emergency Squad or Catskill Area Hospice.
