OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — James Wheeler Hinkley Sr., 75, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Southern Maine Medical Center after suffering many years with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born May 4, 1938, in Binghamton, a son of Ira Wheeler and Lena Mae Shofkom Hinkley. Moving to Susquehana, Pa., he was educated there and graduated from Susquehanna High School.
On July 12, 1958, he married Ann Marie Brown in Susquehanna, Pa.
He had been employed at Keith Clark, Inc. in Sidney, as director of manufacturing technology, retiring in 1993.
He and his wife moved to Maine in 1993. James was a member of the NRA and the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, mountain biking, woodworking and model trains and was a member of the Maine Garden Railway Society. During the summer months, Jim and his son spent a great deal of time at sea, running fishing charters and commercial tuna fishing.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Ann Marie Hinkley in 2008.
Surviving are one son, James Hinkley Jr. of Saco, Maine; one brother, Robert Hinkley and his wife, Jeannette, of Unadilla; several nieces; nephews and cousins
Visiting hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Cathedral Pines Funeral Home, 156 Saco Avenue, Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
