Ronald A. Van Alstine Sr.

MAYFIELD — Ronald A. Van Alstine Sr., age 72, son of Earl and Hazel (Slingerland) Van Alstine passed away on Nov. 22, 2013, at his home in Mayfield N.Y.

He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Scott, on July 2, 1960.

They celebrated their 53rd anniversary this year.

He began his career as a linotype operator at the Little Falls Times, and Saratoga Printing Co. He owned and operated Park Place Mobile Home Park in Porters Corners. He built many custom homes in the Saratoga/Wilton/Greenfield market.

He was quite an athlete at East Springfield School and attended Boys State.

He enjoyed wood working, snowmobiling, boating, riding motorcycles, NASCAR and riding in his

Mercedes convertible. He always enjoyed doing things with his children and grandchildren and spending their winters in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and three children, Connie and Joe Larkin of Denver, Colo., Ronald

Van Alstine Jr. of Saratoga, and Penny and Albert Giddings of Texas; seven grandchildren, Brittany and

Jerad Larkin of Colo.; Robbie, Scott and Danny Van Alstine; and Emily and Eva Cornell of Texas; one stepgranddaughter, Colleen and Kevin Chamber and their boys, Noah and Adrien; his brother, Leland Van Alstine of Fla.; sisters, Audrey Prime, Doris Prime and Sylvia Lapi of Fort Plain; and several nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Van Alstine, and daughter in law Kelly O’Connell Van Alstine.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec 6, 2013, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry

Valley, with the Rev. Lyman Johnson officiating. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life at the South Minden Fire Hall.
