EAST SPRINGFIELD — Isabelle M. Searles, 82, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
She was born Aug 23, 1930 in Cherry Valley, the daughter of Grover and Eva (Yerdon) Utter. She married Robert K. Searles on Aug. 28, 1948, who predeceased her in 2008.
Together, Isabelle and Bob worked a family dairy farm in East Springfield. She worked outside the dairy farm at Beechnut baby food in Canajoharie for 35 years, 15 years as a cook at Springfield Central High School and 15 years at Central National/NBT Bank in Cherry Valley.
During her spare time, she enjoyed family, sewing, was active in PTA, 4-H Club and as a member of Springfield Grange.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Rosie), Greg (Linda); grandchildren, Brett (Ashley), Marcia (Dan), Jessica (Kevin), Joshua (Christina), Rachel (Steve), Rebecca; five great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Merrilee (Paul), Margaret (Carlos); and several nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Buelah (John) McKuen and brothers, Harold (Evie) Utter and Almond (Evelyn) Utter.
The family thanks Maureen Kuhn and staff at Cherry Valley Medical Center, in-home care aides, Michelle, Chayndell, Brenda, Pam and Cinde for all their never-ending care and concern.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Isabelle’s memory may be made to the Cherry Valley Food Bank, Cherry Valley Ambulance, or Springfield first responders.
