COOPERSTOWN — Bernice Felix Schnitman, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 91, passed away on Nov. 17, 2013, at Otsego Manor, Cooperstown.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1922, in West Haven, Conn., the daughter of Charles and Ida (Cantor) Felix.
Bernice, who lived almost all of her life in Hamden, Conn., was a graduate of Hamden High School. She worked at First Federal Savings and Loan in Hamden, Conn., for many years until her retirement.
On Sept. 10, 1944, she married Robert Schnitman and they shared a loving and devoted union until his passing on April 6, 1984. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Jacob (Jack) and Herman Felix.
Bernice is survived by her two daughters, Sue Taylor of Montville, Conn., and Judith Schnitman and her husband, Richard Insinga of Oneonta; three grandsons, Ralph Insigna and his wife, Kai-Li of Blue Bell, Pa., Marc Insinga and his wife, Amy of Wilmington, Del., and Lee Insigna of South Orange, N.J.; and three great-grandchildren, Everett, Genevieve and Josephine Insinga.
Funeral services will be held in the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell Street, New Haven, Conn., at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
A period of mourning will be observed from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and with a Shiva Minyan at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at 3 Roberts Way, Oneonta.
