Gordon A. Roe
STAMFORD — Gordon A. Roe, 72, well-known resident of Stamford, passed away at Robinson Terrace, Sunday, March 30, 2014.
He was born in Hobart on Jan. 29, 1942, the son of Alment Burton Roe and Marjorie (DuBois) Roe.
A United States Army veteran, Gordon’s last employment was as manager of the Belvedere Hotel in Stamford.
He was a member of Stamford Baptist Church and the American Legion.
In recent years he was often seen around town in his electric wheelchair accompanied by his loving companion, Dorothy Clow.
He had a special affection for his cat, Bobbie and loved the area scenery.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Roger; and his sister, Fay.
He is survived by sister-in-law, Janet Roe and brother-in-law Alfred Rogers; as well as six nieces, Marjorie Mickel, Brenda Key, Alfreda Rogers, Tina LaTour, Cynthia Terbush, Patricia All; and great-niece, Stacy Snyder; and many more great-nieces and -nephews.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in his memory to Stamford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 358, Stamford, NY 12167.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service for friends and family will be at the Great Room in Robinson Terrace at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, with Pastor Waylen Bray officiating.
