EL CAJON, Calif. — Richard (Dick) William France, 66, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home in El Cajon near San Diego.
He was born in Oneonta on June 12, 1946, the son of William and Louise Townsend France.
After graduating from OHS in 1964, he served in the Navy as an instrument technician aboard the USS Hector in the Western Pacific.
He married Bonetta Jarvis in Las Vegas.
His Navy training was put to use for a career in computer technology, working for various airplane manufacturers and the military in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas.
An interest in orchids and related plants culminated in a degree in environmental horticulture, and he was an avid fisherman and railroad buff.
In addition to his loving wife, Bonetta in El Cajon; he is survived by their two sons, Bill (Danielle) and Steven; his brothers, Roger and Robert of West Oneonta; and loving nieces, nephew, cousins and aunts, Betty Lou (Townsend) Harp and Betty (France) Harrigan.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 15 at the El Cajon Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Dick.
