ROXBURY — Donald L. Hadden Sr., 91, died Friday, April 12, 2013, in Stamford, former resident of Roxbury.
Don was born Oct. 4, 1921, at Fishs Eddy, the son of Floyd T. and Sarah (Bevier) Hadden.
He married Pauline Vermilyea on June 23, 1944, at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury.
Don graduated from the Roxbury Central School in 1941. He worked on farms in New Berlin and West Exeter, Meridale and the family farm in Roxbury.
Don was a well-known cattle dealer, working many years with Bill Baker. Don also sold cars and trucks
for Hinkley Ford in Grand Gorge for several years.
He was a member of the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church where served as an elder and deacon. He was an honorary member of the Roxbury Fire Department, which he joined in 1941. Don was a member of the Roxbury Town Board for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Hadden, resident of Robinson Terrace, Stamford; his son, Donald L. Hadden Jr. of Kingston; and a granddaughter, Nicole.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury, with the Rev Richard Dykstra, officiating. Committal services will follow in the Roxbury Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
Donations in memory of Donald L. Hadden Sr., may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church.
