UNADILLA — Bernard A. “Bernie” De Forest, 71, of Unadilla, passed away Saturday morning, April 13, 2013, at home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1942, in Oneonta, the son of Addison and Eunice (Fisk) De Forest.
Bernie was a lifetime resident of Unadilla. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during the Vietnam War. From 1967 to 1969, and served in the 9th Infantry as a scout dog handler.
He was a lifetime member of the Unadilla Rod and Gun Club, member of the Unadilla Fire Department and was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
He is survived by his wife, Betty De Forest of Unadilla; two sons, Bernard De Forest II and Brent (Lynnette) De Forest, all of Unadilla; a brother, Darryl De Forest of Unadilla; a sister, Maxine De Forest of Clarks Summit, Pa.; three grandchildren, Lorelei, Lainey and Brent De Forest II. Also, survived by nieces, Lori, Denise, Heather and Danielle; and a nephew, Arek.
There will be no funeral services by request.
