HARTWICK — Gary Wayne Wahl, 72, of County Highway No. 11, formerly of Richfield Springs, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He had the comfort and support of his loving family at his side.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1940, in Buffalo, son of the late Elmer and Ruth Ullenbruch Wahl. Gary was raised in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School with the class of 1958.
Mr. Wahl was an electrical lineman with Local Union No. 1249 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Syracuse. He retired in 1997, after 36 years of dedicated service.
Gary had a strong sense of community and was a charter member of the Richfield Springs Lions Club.
He also enjoyed the outdoors and found his relaxation hunting and fishing. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many friends and family especially his cherished grandchildren and great-grandson. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Wahl and Cathy Barraco and her husband, Robert, all of Richfield Springs; a stepson, Kristian Dolger and his wife, Kelly of Skaneateles; one sister, Judy Sypek of Marcy; six grandchildren, Brittany Stephenson and her husband, Mike, Eddie Bello III and his fiancee, Nicole McLean, Chelsea Kamp, Kaitlin Imperato and her husband, John, Tyler Kamp and Molly Bello; one great-grandson, Carter Stephenson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours for Mr. Wahl will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jane Bensley officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Lions Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
