EDMESTON — Shirley Post, 83, of Edmeston, died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Oneonta.
She was born March 20, 1930, in Burlington Green, the daughter of Lynn and Henrietta (Knowles) Osborne.
Shirley had been employed by Kraft Foods and later as a custodian by Edmeston Central School.
In her youth, she owned several horses and belonged to a riding club. She enjoyed sports, especially softball, lifting weights with her cousin, Judy, and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Shirley was affectionately known as the town supervisor always surveying how the work around town was being done keeping her office at the Post Office.
Shirley’s home life centered on her daughter and son. She was always available to be part of their activities; such as score keeper when David was in Little League.
Her daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Ellis; her grandchildren, Charles Ellis, Nicholas Ellis and Kearra Doheny survive Shirley.
She was predeceased by her son, David Post on May 1, 1983; and her sister, Nellie Williams.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston. Calling hours will be from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be in the spring.
