Carolyn B. Zeek
HOLLAND, Mich. — Carolyn Elizabeth Ball McAlister Zeek, 94, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in Holland, Mich.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1919, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Arthur Ball and Mae Riker Ball.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Lois McAlister Mulder (Andrew) and Jean McAlister DenHerder (Andy Kurrash) of Holland, Mark Zeek (Margaret McGown) of Cooperstown, Christy Zeek Orsino (Bruce) of Tom’s River, N.J., and John Zeek (Sara) of Clifton Forge, Va. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was married to Philip B. McAlister in 1940, and he died in 1956. She married Elwood R. Zeek in 1962, and he died in 1972.
In 1975, Carolyn founded the pre-school at the North Branch Reformed Church in North Branch, N.J., which is still in operation today. In 1989, she retired and moved to Holland, Mich.
Memorial gifts may be given to The Village Library of Cooperstown or the Brookwood School in Cooperstown.
