FRANKLIN — Lloyd Eck, 83, passed away Jan. 18, 2014.
He was born May 18, 1930, in Corbett, the son of Rubin and Ida (Donaven) Eck. He was a graduate of Barker New York High School and graduated Morrisville College with a degree in horology.
He married Patricia Silvernail in 1964, she predeceased him in 2006.
He was a longtime Oneonta area resident and worked over 20 years at Gabrel Harris Jewelers in Oneonta and then was self-employed until retiring.
Survivors include his three sons and their wives, David (Cheryl) of Venice, Peter (Mary) of Unadilla and Dale (Cindy) of Mount Upton; two daughters, Judy Kirk of Pawling and Rosalie Wines of Oneonta; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a brother, Bill Eck of Hornell; two sisters, Rachel Souls of Corbett and Grace (Tumpy) Banks of Downsville; a brother-in-law, Douglas Silvernail of Oneonta; and his best friends, Gary and Jan.
He was predeceased by his wife; parents; two brothers, Harry (Jiggs) Eck and Kenith Eck Sr.; one sister, Ella Eck; two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Gilbert and Beula Eck; two brothers-in-law, Ken Souls and Bud Banks.
Lloyd loved outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a published poet. His last five years he spent at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, where he enjoyed working with flowers and painting. He made many friends there.
There will be no public services at Lloyd’s request.
