Eunice M. Moxley
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Eunice M. Moxley, 95, of County Highway No. 24, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, Jan. 25, 2014, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on March 24, 1918, in Braintree, Vt., daughter of the late John B. and Mabel Woodworth Hutchinson. Eunice was raised and educated in Peth, Vt.
On Sept. 5, 1937, she was united in marriage with Verne H. Moxley in East Randolph, Vt. They shared a devoted union of 66 years until his passing on July 27, 2004. They first made their home in East Randolph where Mrs. Moxley worked in a rest home and Verne hauled logs from Vermont through New York State. On one of his trips, he discovered a lovely, quiet town where he and Eunice could settle down.
In 1942, they moved to Richfield Springs, where she worked first for the Palmer House Hotel in town, Remington Arms Company in Ilion, then later for the Mercury Newspaper in Richfield Springs. She stopped working outside the home in 1943, to raise her family.
Mrs. Moxley had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Richfield Springs Bible Church. She thoroughly loved her church family and the many activities of the church. She loved going to church holding the arm of a son or grandchild.
At one time she was very active with the 4-H Club. Her leisure and relaxation time were sewing and doing upholstery work.
To all who knew her, family and home were her priority. Cherished are those memories of the warm aromas that came from her kitchen and the wonderful meals that only she could prepare. She will be truly missed by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
