WESTFORD — Joseph F. Kerzick, 94, entered the state of eternal rest on May 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph was born on March 8, 1919, in Roseboom. He was the son of the late Anton and Johanna “Jennie” (Gabrovsek) Kerzick.

On Oct. 15, 1966, he married Delphine Clara Peeters at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Worcester. Joseph and Delphine started to build their home that same year in Westford and, after moving in, have lived there ever since.

Joseph worked many years for the Otsego County Highway Department, where he retired from in 2001.

After retiring, Joseph spent his days lending a helping hand to others, maintaining his property and gardens and visiting with family and friends.

Joseph was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Worcester until he became ill in 2007.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Delphine; his one daughter and her husband, Delphine Ann (Kerzick) and Antonio Santona; three brothers-in-law and their wives, William and Linda Peeters of Burlington Flats, Martin and Dana Peeters of Westford and Richard and Janette Peeters of Westford; and several close cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joseph was predeceased by his two brothers, Ludwig and Anthony Kerzick; and three sisters, Mary V. Kerzich, Mildred Watson and Bertha McNulty.

Joseph will be remembered for his strong work ethic, easy smile and devotion to his family.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, a long family friend, officiating. The interment of ashes will follow in the Westford Cemetery, Main Street in Westford. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
