WORCESTER – Alta E. Chase, 65, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, after many struggles.
She was born May 24, 1947, in Oneonta, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Odell) Grosfent.
Alta graduated from Worcester Central School, class of 1967.
She married Norman Chase at the Second Baptist Church in Worcester on July 26, 1969.
She worked for A.O. Fox Hospital, Worcester Central School as a noon hour aide and Chase Chevrolet in Worcester as a title clerk.
Alta was a member of the Milford Center Community Bible Church, the Worcester Grange, the Worcester Women’s Club and the Worcester Fireman’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed making hats and mittens for the schoolchildren and for those who were in need. She also loved to put on a meal for her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Chase of Worcester; a son, David and Lynn Chase of Worcester; a sister, Linda Grosfent of Worcester; a brother-in-law, Sidney and Dorelle Chase of Worcester; a step-mother-in-law, Ella Chase of Worcester; two aunts, Ruth Odell of Oneonta and Betty Grosfent of Ellenville, and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the Milford Center Community Bible Church, from 1 to 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Stephen Fournier, pastor, officiating and Art Henry co-officiating.
