David M. Wright
PORTLANDVILLE — David M. Wright “Fatboy,” 41, of Portlandville died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
He was born Feb. 7, 1971, the son of Mae Edwards (Marshall).
Most of his career he was a self-employed carpenter, but never turned down a profitable venture. He never turned down a friend, either. His life was spent carefree and surrounded by friends. He finally settled in Portlandville, where he opened his home to all.
Friends referred to his house as the “half way house.” His door was always open. You knew long before actually seeing him that he was present. If you didn’t have to yell, the music wasn’t loud enough. He had a way of brightening your day with his hug or handshake. He was the life of the party, to say the least, and he was proud of that.
He was passionate about his family, as well. His mother was the most important woman in the world to him; she always won first place. A shining star has burned out way too soon. He will be missed but never forgotten
He is survived by his mother, Mae Edwards, son Michael (Slim) Wright, sister Karen Schaffer (Wright), brother Donald Wright, sister Kelly Tolley (Wright), many nieces and nephews, K-9 companions Shadow and Mollie, step-siblings, and many, many friends.
Please join us for a celebration of his life on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Oneonta. N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please join us in the spring for a motorcycle run in his honor (charity to be determined).
