MARGARETVILLE — Marie Helen Paradies, 83, resident of Claryville and formerly of Margaretville, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Sullivan County Adult Home Care Center, Liberty.
She was born Sept. 28, 1929, at Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of Calvin and Hilda (Archibald) Hennigar.
Marie worked for five years at Alaska Toys in New Jersey, then at Sudutos for two years in Staten Island. She retired from Pathmark, Inc., after working for 12 years at the Staten Island Store.
Marie (Mom) enjoyed and loved her flower gardening, she loved her cats and feeding the ducks with Pop.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Manon of Margaretville; sons, Richard Paradies of Kingston, N.Y. David and his wife Rose
Paradies of Claryville, NY and daughter Elizabeth and her husband John McColgan of Staten Island; sister, Gloria Danley of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was married to Richard W. Paradies for 60 years, who predeceased her June 30, 2012. She was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Hennigar; and brother, Clavin Hennigar.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville. Calling hours will be held before the service from noon until 2 p.m.
Committal service will be in the Margaretville Cemetery in the spring.
