LAURENS — Richard Allen Arcaro, 65, of Laurens died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, surrounded by his wife and family.

He was born in Jersey City, N.J., on April 29, 1947, to Albert Alfonso and Catherine Marion (McShane) Arcaro. Rich was a graduate of St. Cecilia’s in Englewood, N.J., and earned a bachelor’s degree at Columbia University in Manhattan.

Rich worked for Verizon (formerly New Jersey Bell) for 27 years as an electrical engineer and later as a computer analyst before taking early retirement and moving from Ramsey, N.J. to Laurens.

The oldest child in a family of eight children, Rich was predeceased by his parents.

Rich is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sheila (Haberman) Arcaro; his son, Canyon and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rose Arcaro of Ramsey, N.J. and their daughters, Cassie and Katey; daughter, Pamela Lauren Arcaro-Traylor and son-in-law, Bart Traylor of Clifton, N.J., and their son, Devin; his brothers, Bob and sister-in-law, Isla of Wheaton, Ill., and Estero, Fla., Tom and sister-in-law, Michele of Hillsdale, N.J., Peter and sister-in-law, Cathy of Greenwood Lake; sisters, Jeanne Alvarez of Temecula, Calif., Joanne Plescia and brother-in-law, Gary of Medford, N.J., and Slaughter Beach, Del., Janet Forest and brother-in-law, Buddy of Wanaque, N.J. and Kathy of Leverett, Mass. He also leaves 15 nieces and nephews; nine cousins; and an aunt, Ann and uncle, Bill McShane of Deer Park.

As he wished, Rich’s remains were donated to the Anatomical Gift Program of Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.
