SUMMIT — Earl H. Fisher, 91, of Bridgewater, formerly of Summit and East Worcester, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica, after a brief illness.

Earl was born May 24, 1921, in Yorktown, a son of Charles and Antona (Bigalke) Fisher. He was educated at the former Cobleskill High School where he received his diploma.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving at the beginning of World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to upstate New York and settled in East Worcester where he operated a garage and auto dealership for Datsun. Mr. Fisher later worked as a civilian auto mechanic at West Point Military Academy until his retirement in 1975.

He resided in Summit before moving to Bridgewater several years ago. Always remaining active, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycles and spending winters in Hernando, Fla.

He was a former member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church and the Worcester Rotary Club.

Survivors include three sons, Robert E. (Valerie) Fisher of Floyd, William J. (Joanne) Fisher of East Worcester and John C. Fisher of Worcester; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche Williams and Betty Chapman, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one niece and one nephew; and his longtime companion, Millie Griffin.

A period of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 108 Chapel St., Cobleskill, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. with interment in Summit Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Victor Zaccaro will officiate.
