LEESBURG, Fla. — Alice Marie Rose, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, in Leesburg, Fla., at the age of 89.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1923, in Big Rapids, Mich., to the late Martin and Olive (Malcolm) Chapman.
Following high school, Alice worked in Big Rapids, where she met the late James Rose, a first-year teacher of agriculture in 1942. They married in 1943 and spent the next 69+ years making a “home” together. They moved to Cherry Valley in 1946, where Alice worked for the local Oldsmobile dealer, was village clerk and prepared tax forms for local farmers.
She is survived by her two sons, Larry (Vickie) Rose of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Richard (Marlene) Rose of St. Clair, Mich.; four grandchildren: Bryan (Laura) Rose of Frisco, Texas, Lynette Rose of Concord, Calif., Megan (William) Laws of Clinton Township, Mich., and Justin Rose of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and three great grandchildren.
Alice will be remembered at a church service in the chapel of Waterman Village in Mt. Dora, Fla., at a future date.
Alice will be interred with her husband, James, in Big Rapids, Mich.
