ADAMS — Lawrence L. Meeks, 67, Adams, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2013.

A graveside service was held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, town of Cape Vincent, Wednesday, Aug. 28, with Pastor Donald Briant, Clayton United Methodist Church officiating.

Larry, was born in Clayton on June 16, 1946, son of Thelma Meeks Stevens, and he attended Clayton Central School.

Marriages to Norma Ramsey and Diane Collins ended in divorce.

He was the owner and operator of B.F.D. Flooring, Oneonta. He was also a commercial truck driver, working for both Swift, N. Myrtle Beach, and Laser Transit, Lacona.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited for many years. While in Oneonta, he was a dedicated coach, supporter, and father to the high school wrestling team for many years.

He is survived by his five sons, Larry L. Meeks Jr. and wife Lisa, Yorktown, Va., Anthony P. Meeks, Myrtle Beach, N.C., Nickolas J. Meeks, N. Syracuse, Christopher L. Meeks, Adams and Kevin W. Meeks, Boone, N.C.; four grandchildren, Kaleb, Lia, Connor and Ali Meeks; brother, William “Billy” Stevens, Oneonta; two sisters, Patricia Stevens, Oneonta and Janet Wise and husband Rod, Dover, Del.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was predeceased by his mother, Thelma Meeks Stevens; sister, Karen Stevens Palmeter; and niece, Priscilla Palmeter.
