DOWNSVILLE — Elno (Punk) Tompkins, age 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Mountainside Care Center, Margaretville.
Elno was born Jan. 1, 1925, in the Town of Andes, the daughter of Truman and Goldie (Sutton) Sprague.
She married William Tompkins, Jr. in Downsville on June 12, 1999.
Elno spent her early years in Andes and then lived in Downsville for 46 years.
She worked at the Hotel Regis in Fleischmanns for 26 years.
She enjoyed going to rummage and lawn sales, listening to music and loved to play bingo.
Surviving is her husband , William Tompkins, Jr.; daughters, Barbara Martin, Jean Brenner and Kathy Shaffer; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Lipps, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with Kevin Beutel, officiating. Committal services will follow at the Page Cemetery, Downsville.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Mountainside Care Center in memory of Elno Tompkins.
