MILFORD — Douglas E. Eggleton, 66, of the town of Milford, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at his residence.

Doug was born in Deposit on July 4, 1947. He married Patricia A. Rogers on June 4, 1977 in St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta.

He loved to travel and made more than 20 trips to Disney World. Because of his disability, he was somewhat limited to physical activity, but enjoyed fishing and watching TV, especially “Gun Smoke.”

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Douglas Eggleton and his significant other, Joan Schecter-Smith, Christopher Eggleton and his significant other, Sarah Gillen; his father, Chester Eggleton; his grandsons, Michael Eggleton and Luca Phillips; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Marcie Eggleton; his father-in-law, Frank Rogers; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Eggleton; his sisters-in-law, Eileen Dorritie, Susan Utter ( Don Grimes), and Carol Rogers; a brother-in-law, Robert Miner, as well as several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Jean Eggleton; a sister, Carol Miner; his mother-in-law, Teresa Rogers; his brothers-in-law, Frank Rogers Jr., William Dorritie and Gary Utter, and a sister-in-law, Judy Eggleton Ross.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Scott Vanderveer, associate pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, when the family will be in attendance.
