Rain postponed the Oneonta Tigers' New York-Penn League game at the Vermont Lake Monsters on Wednesday, setting up a doubleheader between the Stedler Division rivals at 6:05 p.m. today.
Each of today's games is scheduled for seven innings.
Gary Perinar (2-2, 6.27 ERA) will start the opener for the Tigers and Kevan Hess (2-0, 2.91) will make his first start for Oneonta in the second game.
Oneonta (22-14) has won two straight _ sweeping Vermont in a two-game set at Damaschke Field on Monday and Tuesday. The Tigers won Monday's game, 5-4, then got a walkoff grand slam to left field from John Murrian to win Tuesday's game, 9-5.
The O-Tigers lead the Stedler Division by 3 1/2 games over the Lowell Spinners (20-19) and four over Vermont (19-19). The Spinners beat the Tri-City ValleyCats, 8-2, on Wednesday.
The O-Tigers return home to play Tri-City at 7:05 p.m. Friday, then visit the ValleyCats at 5 p.m. Saturday for a doubleheader. Tri-City is last in the four-team Stedler Division, at 12-25.
Oneonta and Tri-City return to Damaschke Field at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, when they'll finish a July 11 suspended game before playing the regularly scheduled game.
T-C to host Hall night
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will send six artifacts to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy to help the ValleyCats celebrate Hall of Fame Night against the O-Tigers.
The following items will be on display:
A 1934 bat that Babe Ruth used during his final season with the New York Yankees.
Derek Jeter's 1996 World Series jersey, which the shortstop wore during his first World Series.
A glove used by Troy native and Hall of Famer Johnny Evers.
The batting gloves worn by Craig Biggio when he earned his 3,000th hit.
A Roger and Koby Clemens ball. Koby Clemens, a former ValleyCat, played a game with his father at the Lexington Legends in 2006, when Roger Clemens was coming out of retirement.
Jeff Bagwell's spikes from the 2000 season, when he became the seventh player with 300 homers, 1,000 RBIs and 1,000 runs in his first 10 years.
Tiger Trot 5K is Sunday
The 10th annual Tiger Trot 5-kilometer race is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Saturday. The event, which is sponsored by A.O. Fox Hospital, starts and finishes in Neahwa Park.
Pre-registration costs $15. Raceday registration costs $20 and starts at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Runners will receive two general admission tickets to Sunday's game between Tri-City and the O-Tigers.
Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female winners as well as the top male and female in age-groups 0-15, 16-29, 30-40, 41-50, 51-65 and 65-and-older.
