---- — The local chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be hosting the Third Annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Oneonta in Neahwa Park on Sept. 14. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 36,000 children, teens and older adults losing their lives each year in the U.S., the importance of AFSP’s mission has never been more urgent.
Whether you have been touched personally by suicide or not, we encourage everyone to participate. Funds will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which funds national and local suicide prevention programs and research. To register for the walk, please visit www.outofthedarkness.org or call (888) 333-AFSP.
And please remember if you or someone you know is feeling suicidal, help is available by calling the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255).
