The Daily Star
---- — The following is a message I sent to my representative in Washington:
“Dear Mr. Gibson,
“My concern is with the state of politics in our country and the undue influence of pressures outside of constituent will. Occasionally an issue arises that illustrates the powerlessness of the ordinary voter. Currently that issue is gun control. I urge you to stand apart from other Congress members under the control of such outside pressures. To protect the rights of hobby owners of war weaponry is to favor the closet psychopath over the rights of peaceful citizens. Please work to redo Congress’ stand on guns to reflect the sane will of our district.”
Chris Gibson’s proud stance from his website:
Outspoken supporter of the right to bear arms. (November 2010)
Opposes restricting gun purchase and possession. (November 2010)
Loosen restrictions on interstate gun purchases. (October 2011)
I was aware of Mr. Gibson’s pro-gun stance, but the extent of his devotion to NRA tenets is depressing. He is, however, now advocating tougher enforcement of existing gun laws. But of course without a universal registration and background check, etc., etc., enforcement would be the proverbial waste of effort the NRA claims. How many times should we debate that rabbit around the bush?
Mass murder of innocents and rampant street violence are not issues considered by the Second Amendment. It’s up to us to consider.
