Freedom of speech means valuing it all

OK, enough is enough. The Daily Star in its infinite wisdom came up with a Saturday paper that covers Saturday and Sunday, costs more than the daily one and has yet to give me Sunday’s news. Heck, they can’t even give me Saturday’s news because the paper is printed before it has all happened.

They value the opinion of a managing editor they used to employ, even when he brags about breaking the law by voting twice in a presidential election. I call him Cary Bushwacker because he also brags about spending eight years bashing President Bush.

The paper values freedom of speech unless it’s Phil Robertson’s speech, who, by the way, got his job back and won’t need extended unemployment benefits.

I am trying to keep this short so the liberal base will finish reading this, which brings me to the straw that broke the camel’s back. The Dec. 27 In Our Opinion column states “Yes, America, upon whom the deity shed his grace and crowns its good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.”

Allow me to copy the original text of the song, “America the Beautiful:” “America! America! GOD shed His grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!” Are you still with me? They can’t even print the word “God”!

What is Oneonta coming to? Someone might be offended if they printed the word “God.” God is great. God is good. God sent his only begotten Son.

If they print this, people will have seen the word “God” seven times. One small step for mankind, and note, Cary, it does not refer to George McGovern. I think I’ll sleep better tonight. After all, I’m allowed to have my own opinion.
