The article by Nick Hauauer and Eric Liv in the Sept. 14 edition of The Daily Star which criticizes communism and what they call radical libertarianism makes some valid points, but used a well-known liberal ploy prefacing the word “libertarian” with the adjective “radical.” By this subterfuge, they feel that all “right thinking” people will agree with their thesis.
However, to label all those who view the ever-increasing size and scope of government as “radicals” uses the age-old method of dictators everywhere of labeling those who oppose their plans as for some reason being mentally deficient.
As Mr. Jefferson knew, the natural momentum would be for the state to grow and culture to atrophy. We may well end the human liberty experiment somewhere between Huxley’s “Brave New World” and Orwell’s “1984,” and the “Hunger Games” trilogy of Suzanne Collins.
Any government that controls and dominates every aspect of our lives is extremely dangerous. It does not matter if it is called communism or the tyranny of the majority.
