In Our Opinion: Cheers and Jeers

(Continued)

This simple step could save lives. We encourage all expectant fathers to look into this and consider getting vaccinated.

Jeers ...

... To the unnecessary death of a dog.

Moses, a Rottweiller-pitbull mix rescued from the Susquehanna SPCA shelter a decade ago, lost her life because of two humans who should have acted differently. Moses, owned by Jessica Surdam, was allowed to run free off rural Jones Road in New Lisbon last week. That was the first error.

The second came when Surdam’s neighbor, Sammy Luppino, allegedly shot the dog for being on his property. The state Department of Environmental Conservation said Luppino has been charged with a felony, aggravated cruelty to animals. Surdam has been charged with allowing her dogs to run loose in an area where deer are known to roam as well as keeping unlicensed dogs.

It appears to us that both humans are to blame for Moses’ demise.
