The Delaware County Social Services 2013 Adoption Day Fundraiser was a huge success. Through our communities’ generosity, we raised a total of $1,635 for this year’s efforts.
The Fair Board assisted us in reaching out to this year’s fair headliner band, Montgomery Gentry, and was able to obtain an autographed guitar that was donated specifically to help with this fundraiser. This is the second year that we were able to do this. There was advertising about this event on WDLA and WDHI prior to the fair. Empire Toyota Scion donated $5 for each new customer during June and July.
The fair store ladies were wonderful, aiding us in obtaining donations, and the secretary’s office staff could be heard throughout the week promoting the event. Then the fair topped this off by allowing us to announce the fundraiser and draw the winning ticket on stage before the concert. This gave us some great exposure about our adoption day celebrations and the need for foster homes.
When children in foster care become freed for adoption, the department must find for these children permanency, safety and forever homes. Our adoption day celebrations provide a special recognition for youths as they officially join their forever family. Invitations are extended to the people who have been involved and significant in the youth’s life while they were in foster care. All of those who aided us with this event can be proud that they participated in brightening a child’s life. For those who are interested in learning more and becoming part of our children’s’ life’s journey, whether on a temporary basis or full time, please call us to learn more about foster and adoptive parenting; the department is always looking for foster and adoptive homes.
