Mark diLorenzo is fully qualified

Mark diLorenzo is seeking support as a candidate for superintendent of highways for the town of Otsego. I have known of Mark diLorenzo for many years, but in the last year I have learned more about him at various community events.

Mark is a man who is comfortable holding his wife’s hand as they stroll through town, engaging his children in respectful conversation, and meeting and greeting people from all walks of life. He appears to be genuinely interested in people and listens to their viewpoints.

Highway superintendent requires knowledge about design, construction and maintenance of the physical environment, including roads, and bridges. It requires leadership skills, independent judgment and initiative. It requires the ability to understand, plan and execute the department’s services to meet the needs and safety concerns of our community. It requires resourcefulness, an understanding of budgets, equipment maintenance and of local and state laws/policies. It requires good interpersonal skills and persuasiveness, in order to represent the department at meetings, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the highway crew, the town board, government agencies, and the public.

Mark has been diligently preparing for his candidacy — meeting with the mayor and community leaders, inspecting the existing roads to assess current and future needs, researching possible grants, reviewing the town’s comprehensive plan, and speaking with several of our neighboring town highway superintendents.

Mark’s commitment, background and experience including: U.S. Air Force-Civil Engineering, Communications, Special Operations; contractor-small-business owner; police officer; director of safety and security for a local corporation; his interest in the protection and conservation of the environment, and his demonstrated interpersonal skills make him an ideal candidate for this important position. I strongly encourage you to learn more about him, his qualifications, and his positive plan of action.
