Raise taxes equally on rich and poor

---- — Democracy is a noble institution; I spent 21 years in the military defending the Constitution and our right to vote. Unfortunately, democracy is flawed. We have the ability to vote for anything we desire even if it’s wrong, even if we don’t have the money to pay for it.

The Declaration of Independence guarantees us “….life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Nothing guarantees income, housing, food, heat, medical, education, etc. These things must be paid for. If you are not physically or mentally impaired and you believe other human beings wealthy or otherwise should pay your debt, pay your expenses, you are wrong! You are not taking money from the “government,” you are taking money from people who earned it and pay taxes on your behalf.

Each American child is born $50,000 in public debt! We’ve already spent THEIR money; we cannot repay what we owe; it’s already too late.

The Obama administration is facilitating the demise of the United States. Obama’s record-breaking 2013 budget and failure to reduce spending in the face of soaring deficits and overwhelming debt are reckless and obtuse. American cities are declaring bankruptcy; the U.S. Postal Service is insolvent and nearly HALF the U.S. population receives government benefits.

Yet liberal politicians keep spending (borrowing) money we don’t have. Mobilizing and appealing to masses of poor voters (the majority) by promising “free” benefits gains votes and wins elections — short-term political careers in return for a weakened and potentially bankrupt society; a paradigm of politics, not leadership; selling out the American people under the pretense of “doing good.” Most Republicans understand this, many liberals do not.

Reduce spending, close loopholes, raise taxes on everyone equally, but taxing some folks more than others as Obama and the Democrats advocate will not work and isn’t fair.
