County should not sell the Manor
As an Otsego Manor resident and a former Otsego County taxpayer, I have a few words to say.
I am not the only voice wanting to be heard regarding the “dumping” of the Manor.
You, the board can go home and not worry if someone will be knocking at your door to tell you they are sending you to Timbuktu and to make the best of it.
I was also a taxpayer in Milford for many years.
Unfortunately, my husband was diagnosed with an illness and had no longer than a year to live. We had Hospice care for him and couldn’t have asked for better care. Hospice also has patients at the Manor. Where else can you find that kind of love and care?
The board does not understand what it is like to be uprooted from your home for the rest of your life, and now that we have found another place we call home and are treated like family; you are ripping that away from us, too.
The board needs to leave the doors open and open its ears and let us be heard.
As much as they say that what happened in Delhi won’t happen here, once they sell they will have no control over what happens, and I believe they don’t care. They just want out of the business. They say they will do right by everyone, but they have proven that to not be true when they won’t even listen to anyone or even explore other options.
Open your ears and listen to the people who this affects the most, the residents, employees and taxpayers of Otsego County. There are more of us than the 14 of you. Let us sleep at night. I am sure all of you do.
