In Your Opinion: Workers should be lauded for patriotism

A few weeks ago in the early afternoon I was at Southside Oneonta on State Highway 23 on an extremely windy day. I noticed that the American Flag had become dislodged and became entangled with the line at the Southside McDonald’s restaurant. The care and display of the American Flag and voting are important matters to me as they should be with all the people who live in this great country.

So I was compelled to pull in and and let them know about it. I went to the extremely busy counter and ordered a coffee, which is a vice of mine, and informed the manager on duty of the situation. I was enlightened to see that in the two minutes it took to return to the car that he proceeded forthwith to go outside with a few other employees and rectify the situation.

I know that many chain fast-food restaurants work against the clock to get patrons’ orders fulfilled and that their absence took a toll on the operation. I do not know the name of the manager or his history. I do know that he expedited the repair to end the dire situation our American Flag was in and should be commended for his patriotism. Thank you!
