Another year of the Otsego County Fair has come and gone. It was a showcase of Otsego County’s 4-H youth and their talents. Horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dairy and beef cattle, rabbits and chickens filled the barns. The youth cared for their animals all week long and competed with each other for prizes. Martin Hall was filled with 4-H projects such as baking, sewing, photography, woodworking, welding, maple syrup and conservation practices. It was an exhibition of life skills learned.
The 4-H youth of our county are supported by great families, Otsego County Cooperative Extension, dedicated club leaders, volunteers and businesses. Many of the youths who participated received prizes of animal care products from Homestead Pet and Farm Supply in New Berlin, participated with animals leased by Jennifer Huntington of Cooperstown Holstein Corporation and other generous individuals, and were presented with monetary awards from Southtown Dairy of South New Berlin.
Youths are the future of Otsego County and its towns. Thank you and congratulations to all of you who participated and to those who continue to support our youth.
