Obama indifferent to our civil liberties
On January 21, 2013, Barack Obama will stand before the nation, put his hand on a Bible and swear an oath to “...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution ...” that he has been actively trying to destroy these past four years.
And he’ll do it without a hint of guilt or shame, comforted by the fact that the majority of his Republican opponents fully support his assaults on our liberties — and completely secure in the knowledge that his liberal base knew he didn’t give a rat’s behind about the Constitution when they voted for him.
Obama’s liberal base are the same people who vilified the Bush administration’s surveillance state. But Bush was a Republican. Obama is a Democrat, and the fact that he’s a Bill of Rights-shredding poseur doesn’t concern them now.
They all have their bit, their schtick, their workaround — a smarmy piece of pap to convince themselves that they’re still righteous folk. Their core issues are same-sex marriage, abortion, taxing the rich and gun control. They have taken civil liberties off the table.
Liberal indifference to our civil liberties is typified by people like Matt Damon, who voted for Obama again because he assumed “there will be some Supreme Court appointments in this next term; that alone was reason to vote for him ...”
Being liberal is being comfortable with a president who has no regard nor respect for the Bill of Rights, appointing Supreme Court justices — providing that president is a Democrat. Chris Hedges recently stated that “The presidential election exposed the liberal class as a corpse. It fights for nothing. It stands for nothing…”
