Judge candidates on variety of issues|

Your recently printed letter from Rep. Kosmer would lead the reader to believe that the only issue that a voter in Otsego County should consider in the upcoming election for the Board of Representatives is the candidates’ position on fracking. I completely disagree.

The “extremists” and “far-right Republicans” on the Board of Representatives that Rep. Kosmer is referring to have been diligently performing all of the duties that their respective constituents elected them to do. A few of these duties include the exit from MOSA, the communications/911 systems upgrade, the privatization of the tourism department, the potential sale of the Manor, balancing budgets, union negotiations, and searching for the best ways to provide economic development and job creation to Otsego County and its residents.

Anything that has been achieved has been done so with a unique form of “bipartisanship” of pro- and anti-frackers on the board. We, as Otsego County residents, agree on more issues than we disagree. What we agree on is how we will move the county forward; let’s focus on that.

There are many varied issues that your county representative will have to make decisions on during his or her term. Please, before you vote, judge the candidates on how they will represent you on ALL of these important issues, not just the one that Rep. Kosmer is solely focused on.
