Senior Menus: July 15 to 19



Monday: Meatball Parmesan sub, tossed salad and oatmeal raisin cookie.

Tuesday: Hot dog on bun, molasses baked beans, tomato/onion/cucumber salad and mandarin oranges.

Wednesday: Tuna salad sandwich on whole wheat, three-bean salad, coleslaw and tapioca pudding.

Thursday: Chicken riggies, tossed salad, juice, Italian bread and bread pudding with raisins.

Friday: Meatloaf with gravy, red skinned mashed potatoes, zucchini and yellow squash, oatmeal bread and fresh fruit in season.


Coventry: Windy Hill Senior Center, Coventry Town Hall, state Route 235, Tuesday and Thursday, 656-8602.

Greene: Brightman Senior Center, Birdsall Street, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 656-4789.

McDonough: Genegantslet Activity Center, Methodist Church, two Thursdays per month, 647-5666.

New Berlin: Unadilla Valley Senior Activity Center, Terrace Heights Center, Tuesday and Thursday, 847-8053.

Norwich: Westside Park Senior Center, First Baptist Church, West Park Place, weekdays, 334-2910.

Sherburne: The Welcome Center, Grace Manor Center, Knapp Street, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 674-4600.

Call by 10 a.m. on the serving day for reservations. Hours are weekdays 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Monday: Turkey Divan, glazed sweet potatoes, sliced beets, cottage cheese and peaches, dinner roll and vanilla pudding with oranges.

Tuesday: Baked ham and raisin sauce, scalloped potatoes, mixed fresh vegetables, applesauce, whole wheat bread and cinnamon coffee cake.

Wednesday: Braised beef and mushrooms, egg noodles, slice carrots, one cup fruit salad, whole wheat bread and chocolate brownie. Evening meal in Walton and Hancock.

Thursday: Roast pork with gravy, mashed potatoes, savory stuffing, broccoli and cauliflower, applesauce and red white and blue ice cream sundae. Evening meal in Grand Gorge, Delhi, Margaretville and Sidney. 

Friday: Chicken Parmesan, spaghetti noodles, zucchini and yellow squash, fresh green salad, whole wheat bread and rice pudding with topping.

  • April activities abound at Thanksgiving Home There were many April fool jokes played here at Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home on April 1. Some of us found our door name plates turned upside down or swapped with one from another door and furniture and objects were mysteriously moved around in our rooms. The dining room was completely transformed from its usual formal setting into a hodpodge of mismatched china and … horrors, plastic tablecloths and paper napkins. Each table was decorated with a different theme, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter. Christmas carols played in the background. We suspect that Dee Bouck, of Personal Care and John Santello, Activities Director, were mainly responsible for this mayhem.
