Senior Menus: Sept. 9 to 13



Monday: Baked fish Florentine with tartar sauce, rice pilaf, veggie blend, oatmeal bread and chocolate pudding with topping.

Tuesday: Chicken ala king over egg noodles, stewed tomatoes, rye bread (seedless) and apple pie.

Wednesday: Roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, parsley baby carrots, whole wheat bread and pineapple tidbits.

Thursday: Barbecued pork on a bun, coleslaw, applesauce and peanut butter cookie.

Friday: Stuffed shells with sauce and Parmesan cheese, veggie blend, tossed salad, Italian bread and ice cream.


Coventry: Windy Hill Senior Center, Coventry Town Hall, state Route 235, Tuesday and Thursday, 656-8602.

Greene: Brightman Senior Center, Birdsall Street, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 656-4789.

Call by 10 a.m. on the serving day for reservations. Hours are weekdays 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Monday: Barbecued chicken, oven fried potatoes, fresh broccoli, cranberry sauce, whole wheat bread and peaches.

Tuesday: Liver and onions with gravy, mashed potatoes, fresh bean medley, quick fruit salad, whole wheat bread and brownie.

Wednesday: Swedish meatballs, egg noodles, seasoned spinach, three bean salad, whole wheat bread and pineapple tidbits.

Thursday: Roast turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, traditional stuffing, steamed peas, rosey apple relish, dinner roll and chocolate ice box cake.

Friday: Baked tilapia Parisenne, baked potato, sliced carrots, coleslaw, whole wheat bread and strawberry ice cream sundae.

  • April activities abound at Thanksgiving Home There were many April fool jokes played here at Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home on April 1. Some of us found our door name plates turned upside down or swapped with one from another door and furniture and objects were mysteriously moved around in our rooms. The dining room was completely transformed from its usual formal setting into a hodpodge of mismatched china and … horrors, plastic tablecloths and paper napkins. Each table was decorated with a different theme, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter. Christmas carols played in the background. We suspect that Dee Bouck, of Personal Care and John Santello, Activities Director, were mainly responsible for this mayhem.
