March 25, 1983

EAST MEREDITH _ Seven Delaware County students were among the next generation of food producers attending the New York Farm Bureau's tenth annual governmental seminar for agricultural youth March 21-22 in Albany.

The students are: Ed Losee, Sidney Central School; Dave Kilmer, Walton Central School; Brian Caruso, Walton BOCES; Lee Fleming, Delaware Academy; Dave Hill, Northern Catskills Occupational Center; and Richard O'Kunak and Andy Churchill, Grand Gorge Central School.

The statewide group represents vocational agriculture students in more than 120 high schools. The students were selected on a competitive basis and are sponsored by Farm Bureaus, agribusiness and other organizations. The students toured the Department of Agriculture and Markets, the Senate and Assembly Chambers, the State Court of Appeals and the New York State Museum. Breakfast with their local legislators was also scheduled.

50 years ago

March 25, 1958

SPRINGFIELD _ Springfield town team turned back Richfield Springs here last night, 78-74, in a non-league basketball game. The winners led at halftime, 40-34. John Nelson led the winners with 24 and Pete Clark had 23 for Richfield Springs.
