First-place winners in the talent contest were Jessie Conrow, Otego-Susquehanna Valley Grange, instrumental solo; Marie Broadbent and Pat Condon of Butternut Valley Grange, instrumental duet; Don Gage of Butternut Valley Grange, vocal solo; Irene Fassett and Evelyn Lundholm of Springfield Grange, vocal duet: "The Pokers"; Shirley and Sammy Tabor of Westville Grange, variety acts. Anna Ritchey of Unadilla was named delegate to State Grange in Albany in October. Ruth All of Worcester is alternate. Arthur Clancy Jr., 8, and his sister, Colleen, 10, children of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clancy of Westville, were named Junior Grange Prince and Princess in their age group. Carolyn Scanlon is princess in the 11-to-15 age group. {"HeadlineLight 14 Italic"/}50 years ago March 28, 1958 FRANKLIN _ At 8:15 tonight Mark Twain comes to life in an operetta, "Mississippi Melody," to be presented by the music department of Franklin Central School and sponsored by the Music Council. Franklin people will have the opportunity to see and hear famed Tom Sawyer (Jerry Law), Huckleberry Finn (Herman Herlotz), Aunt Polly (Sue Worden), Puddin' Head Wilson (Jack Schwille), Steamboat Sam (Alfred Shaver), Jo Harper (James Slawson), Becky (Joy Burnside) and Robert Sickler, Donald Hebbard, William Odell, Patricia Reynolds, Joanne Whitney, Sally Law, Cynthia Maurer, Patricia Verguson, Cecelia Judd and Susan Rose.
